PRACTICE DESCRIPTION
Dr. Karanfilian joined Westwood Dermatology Group in 2025. She practices general and cosmetic dermatology and sees patients of all ages. She enjoys treating a wide variety of dermatologic conditions, including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and diseases of the hair and nails. Her clinical interests also include performing total body skin exams using dermoscopy to detect cancerous and precancerous lesions. Additionally, she performs cosmetic treatments, including Botox and laser therapies.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Dr. Karanfilian is board-certified in dermatology and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has published numerous abstracts, journal articles, and a book chapter.
EDUCATION
Dr. Karanfilian graduated Summa Cum Laude from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Business Management. She was part of the seven-year BS/MD program and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She attended Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, where she graduated at the top of her class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. After completing her intern year in Internal Medicine at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Karanfilian went on to complete her dermatology residency at SUNY Stony Brook University. In her final year of residency, she was selected as Chief Resident. During residency, her training also included a rotation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with an internationally renowned expert in dermoscopy to hone her skills in skin cancer detection. After residency, Dr. Karanfilian completed a fellowship in Dermatopathology at Wake Forest University.
